ZOO CROCODILE

+ THE PROJECT

A few years ago, the Toledo Zoo acquired a 17 foot long Saltwater Crocodile from Australia.  A realistic enclosure needed to be built, so they asked us to sculpt and color all of the concrete in the exhibit to resemble a realistic Australian river bank.  Soon after, the zoo really wanted a crocodile that the public could actually interact with.  So Graphite made a realistic sculpture to the same size specifications as the real newly acquired crocodile that is currently the largest on display in the U.S.  Every scale and wrinkle was individually sculpted by hand, and made to withstand daily public interaction AND mother nature.  Needless to say, he has been quite a hit at the zoo.  So much so that we have now made him into a traveling exhibit that the zoo can use to reach potential new visitors around the country.
